Re'Sean completed his Bachelor's degree in 2015 from Capital University, where he majored in Psychology and double-minored in Social Work and Theatre. He pursued his master's degree in 2018; receiving an M.S.E. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Dayton. While pursuing his master's degree, he worked for 3 years at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus providing behavioral therapy and other mental health services to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He completed his doctoral internship at The Ohio State University, where he created a Self-Care group aimed at conveying the importance of establishing healthy practices outside of academic and vocational work. He attained his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Memphis in August 2022. Re'Sean completed his post-doctoral work under the supervision of Dr. Rebecca Becker.
 

Re'Sean utilizes a person-centered and emotion-focused approach to therapy. He believes it is essential to create a safe space for clients with an atmosphere of unconditional positive regard, empathic understanding, and authenticity; so that they may fully and safely process their concerns. He also believes that each client is the expert in their own lives and understands the steps necessary to self-actualize (attain self-fulfillment). He aims to serve as the “guide on the side” to assist clients in reaching their full potential.

 

Re'Sean's professional interests include identity development, multicultural issues, LGBTQ issues, first-generation college students, trauma, self-care, self-esteem, mindfulness, anxiety, depression, emotional intelligence/regulation, ADHD, toxic masculinity, Hip-Hop, underserved or marginalized populations, and issues related to Black/African-American clients, In his personal life, Re'Sean enjoys MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC (especially Hip-Hop), creative expression, art, traveling, binge-watching HBO Max, and any other self-care activity that helps him avoid doing real work.
